Unlucky...

I set off for the tournament two days before the start of the event in company of my dad. I was quite happy that he coming with me since he has not been able to see me play for quite some time. We planned our trip through the A20 motorway because the views are nice. All was going smoothly until we stopped at a service station. When we tried to get going again a red signal light flashed in the car and ordered us to stop the vehicle immediately. We were in for quite a trip... After calling the insurance company the car was on the back of a lorry on its way to the nearest garage and we were on our way home in a taxi. I had to travel to the tournament by train early on the next day by myself.

Day 1

I played a good round of golf on Friday. My plan was to play aggressively and use the driver as much as I could. The round started very well with three birdies in my first five holes. I was hitting the ball well and creating good chances. Towards the end of the front nine my level dropped and I conceded bogeys on 6 and 10. This was frustrating. I tried to use it as extra motivation for the rest of the day. On the back nine I made birdies again and finished with a score of 66. I was really happy with my score and my ability to make birdies. It was a good day.

Day 2

The second round was not my greatest performance on a golf course... I really played sub standard. I don't know if it was tiredness, lack of focus, or just one of those days but it seemed like not much was going right. I tried to remain calm, keep doing my best and wait until shots got better but on Saturday my best was a 78 and that was very disappointing. Precisely 12 shots worse that the day before. Golf is hard sometimes.

Day 3

The final round was much better. I quickly forgot about the previous day and focused on the task at hand. I once again started the round really nicely. This time by birding the first 3. It felt like I had a head start on the rest of the players. I continued to play well but didn't make more birdies. On the 8th hole I made a terrible mistake that led to a double bogey. This was extremely costly. On the rest of the round I fought back and made some more birdies to finish with a round of 68. That placed me in 6th place for the tournament which made the middle round even more annoying. Despite the disappointment of the 78 I feel like my game is in a decent place. Saturday was an accident but Friday and Sunday were two excellent rounds. I am really looking forward to my next opportunity to play. Hopefully I keep making birdies!
